The 9th Annual RRR is a done deal!
Thanks to all who ran, volunteered, staffed, and/or cheered this year's RRR. It couldn't be done without you. The weather sure cooperated, a cloudless sunny day 48 at the start, 70's at the finish. It was once again a capacity crowd, 351 registered for the Half and Relay, 107 for the 5K FunRun. Runners came from 22 states and 5 other countries.
The results are posted, photos and a Trail Mail with a race summary is posted. Comments are always welcome. Thanks, more to come...

The River, Roots & Ruts is a great opportunity to experience Florida trail running
at its finest. It is suited for experienced trail runners and
novices.
While
not a course for a PR, it will go down in your log book
as a special
run. The main event is a 13.1 mile half marathon utilizing
both sides of the park: the wide nature trails on the south
side
and
the
single lane mountain bike trails on the north side.
For
those in training for a race or just off one, or for those that
may want to experience a little less nature we have a 2 person
half marathon relay, over the same course. And for those that
feel that 3.2 miles is just the right amount of nature we offer
a 5K Fun Run along the wide nature trails on the south side of
the park.
If
you are looking for a flat, perfectly marked course with crowds,
plenty of hoopla, thousands of other runners and a big mouse,
you should consider running at Disney World. If however you
want to experience a beautiful and challenging
trail with only a few hundred fellow dirt enthusiasts, have
the chance to win an unique award and more door prizes
than you could shake a root at, sign up for the RRR. Don't take our word on it, see what other runners have said about previous RRR's.
The RRR is sanctioned by the Fort Myers Track Club. Proceeds from this event help support
the educational programs of Riverwatch (Caloosahatchee
River Citizens Association,) Audubon
of Southwest Florida, and CREW
Land and Water Trust, Friends of the Charlotte Harbor Aquatic Preserves and trail maintenance by the Mudcutters
Bicycle Club and the Caloosa Saddle Club.
