Registration is open

The 11th annual RRR will take place on Sunday, January 5, 2014. As we start the 2nd decade of trail running at the Caloosahatchee Regional Park we plan on maintaining the high quality event you expect while adding some improvements. We have a new registration company that offers more features at a better cost, and a new shirt supplier, with a new design and fabric we think you'll really like. And also new for this year, everyone gets a shirt, yes, Fun Runners too!

Shirts: New for the 11th RRR: performance shirts made from a lightweight 100% recycled polyester mesh fabric that wicks moisture and dries quickly. And everyone who registers will get one, Individuals, Relayers, and Fun Runners. Depending on size, each shirt can keep 5-10 plastic bottles out of the landfills. These shirts are made in the USA and printed with non-toxic, Oeko-Tex 100 certified ink. This shirt comes in a wide range of sizes. Registrations received by 12/1 will be guaranteed of getting their size, after that we will do our best.

I ran in a sample of these shirts recently and the material really is comfortable, light, and wicking, nothing like the "plastic" tech shirts you get at some races.

RRR Hog Grant-let - We're excited to announce that the RRR will be awarding a $1500 grant to the CREW Environmental Education Program. Last year we were able to award $1000 to the Southwest Florida Amphibian Monitoring Program. "Frog Watch".

Life imitating art? A startled baby hog on the trail as the lead 5k runner rounds the bend in the 2008 RRR!

The River, Roots & Ruts is a great opportunity to experience Florida trail running at its finest. It is suited for experienced trail runners and novices.

While not a course for a PR, it will go down in your log book as a special run. The main event is a 13.1 mile half marathon utilizing both sides of the park: the wide nature trails on the south side and the single lane mountain bike trails on the north side.

For those in training for a race or just off one, or for those that may want to experience a little less nature we have a 2 person half marathon relay, over the same course. And for those that feel that 3.2 miles is just the right amount of nature we offer a 5K Fun Run along the wide nature trails on the south side of the park.

If you are looking for a flat, perfectly marked course with crowds, plenty of hoopla, thousands of other runners and a big mouse, you should consider running at Disney Cool running in 2006!World. If however you want to experience a beautiful and challenging trail with only a few hundred fellow dirt enthusiasts, have the chance to win an unique award and more door prizes than you could shake a root at, sign up for the RRR. Don't take our word on it, see what other runners have said about previous RRR's.

The RRR is sanctioned by the Fort Myers Track Club. Proceeds from this event help support the educational programs of Riverwatch (Caloosahatchee River Citizens Association,) Audubon of Southwest Florida, and CREW Land and Water Trust, Friends of the Charlotte Harbor Aquatic Preserves and trail maintenance by the Mudcutters Bicycle Club and the Caloosa Saddle Club.
